Man wanted for two separate Houston murders in 2007 and 2008 found 16 years later in Mexico

HOUSTON, Texas – A man who has been on the run for 16 years in connection to two murders in Houston has been arrested in Mexico, according to the Houston Police Department.

Juan Gonzalez, 44, is charged with two counts of murder in separate shootings that took place in 2007 and 2008.

On Jan. 7, 2002, Gonzalez is accused of planning a home invasion with at least five other suspects, which resulted in the death of one of the men involved, 46-year-old Richard Lee Ambriz.

On March 12, 2008, police said Gonzalez got into an argument with 15-year-old Kevin Alfred and two other people and fatally shot Alfred.

Gonzalez was later charged in both incidents but fled to Mexico.

On Saturday, Aug. 31, the U.S. Marshals and FBI Houston received a tip about Gonzalez being in Morelos, Mexico. He was arrested and flown back to Houston on Sept. 1 where he was questioned and booked into Harris County Jail.
