Teenager drowns after climbing fence and getting in City of Houston park pool

HOUSTON – A teenager drowned after police say they climbed a fence around a City of Houston park pool and got in.

The Houston Police Department said it happened at Tuffly Park at the 3200 block of Russell Street in north Houston.

Police were called just after 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

The teenager reportedly climbed the perimeter fence surrounding the pool and got in. At some point, the teenager went under water and did not resurface.

The teenager was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital and pronounced dead.
