Big H Tailgaters are ready to take over NRG Stadium!

HOUSTONThe Houston Texans will face the Chicago Bears on Sunday, but it’s never too early to tailgate!

The Big H Tailgaters are the backbone of the Blue Lot and will be tailgating with us bright and early Friday morning.

The group is a familiar sight at NRG Stadium. The super fans were named the H-E-B Tailgaters of the Game in 2013, and then again in 2023!

The award is given to the best tailgaters at every home game, who show ‘top-notch Texans Spirit, big-time wow factor, the best tasting food, and most importantly, H-E-B love.’

Melissa Garza said the group was formed by her father Henry in 2002. He is the ‘H’ in ‘the Big H’ and was a 35-year veteran of the Houston Fire Department before he passed away in 2013.

Winning Tailgaters of the Game last year was a special moment for the group, because it was the 10-year anniversary of their patriarch, Hank Garza, “being with the Lord.”

Rain or shine they’re always partying before kickoff, and even try to pair their food to match the opponent!

You can check out the food and fun the Big H Tailgaters have in store on Friday, September 13 at 5:30 a.m. on KPRC 2 News Today.
