HOUSTON – Two people were shot and killed at a park in west Houston Thursday afternoon.
Police said one was a teen and the other an adult -- both males.
The shooting was reported at 1:12 p.m. and took place at Bauer Pocket Park, located at 2201 Bauer Dr. in the Spring Branch Central neighborhood.
Houston police said officers got there within five minutes of the call and began searching for a third person witnesses said was somehow involved.
A large portion of the street was taped off by authorities and from Sky 2 you could see police cars and canine units in the area.
Witnesses were able to give police a description of that third person, also a teen. Police found him and said they were interviewing him as a potential witness.
“Right now, we don’t have a whole lot of information as far as what transpired,” Assistant Chief Guzman said. “Everything that we have is preliminary information. We do know something happened; something occurred where two individuals are deceased at the scene at the park right behind me.”
Assistant Chief Guzman also confirmed that one of the victims of the shooting was a teenage male. The other victim has not been identified, but authorities believe he is an adult male.
After the scene was cleared, HPD Assistant Chief Alvaro Guzman said in a press conference that Spring Branch ISD had been notified, but there was no active shooting threat.
