Man jailed after shining laser at Houston Police Department aircraft

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A Harris County man was booked into jail after authorities say he shined a laser at a Houston Police Department aircraft.

The Harris County Precinct 3 Constable’s Office said night shift dispatchers were informed by Houston Police Air Support Division that someone in the 14200 block of Dartwood Dr. has pointed a green laser at their aircraft, causing the people’s vision inside to become impaired.

Deputies were dispatched to the address and found a man, Carlos Castañeda. The constable’s office said Castañeda was found to be in possession of the laser and reportedly admitted to them that he had pointed it at the aircraft.

Castañeda was taken to the Harris County Jail and booked in. He is charged with illumination of aircraft by intense light.
