Details are limited, as it’s an active investigation, but Asst. Chief Yasir Bashir with the Houston Police Department said officers were called just before 7 a.m. at the strip center on Harwin Drive in the Mahatma Gandhi District.
Asst. Chief Bashir said the preliminary findings show the incident surrounded two security guards in their 60s and met at the location. It’s unclear for what purpose, but during their encounter, one of the security guards shot the other several times, killing him.

The shooter then called the police and was detained by responding officers. Both security guards work for the same company, so Asst. Chief Bashir says he believes they know each other, but part of the investigation will be looking into the motive.
“What we have so far is they both work for the same company, and that’s something we’re going to look into if they were relieving each other, or if there were some other, personal issues going on,” Asst. Chief Bashir said.
