HOUSTON – Houston police are piecing together a tragic situation Monday night -- they say a man believed to be a Harris County deputy constable shot and killed a woman before turning the gun on himself.

Shortly before 8:15 p.m., officers with the Houston Police Department were called to an apartment on Briar Forest off Hwy 6.

According to a witness, the man and woman had recently moved into the apartment.

In a news release, police said the female victim is 28 and the man is 33. Their names have not been released.

When officers arrived at the apartment complex, the door was unlocked. They went inside and found the woman with multiple gunshot wounds to the head lying on the living room floor. Officers then found the man in a bedroom with a gunshot wound to his head.

A woman who lives downstairs from the couple’s apartment called police after a bullet came through her ceiling.

Investigators are working to determine what led up to the shooting.

Police have not identified either of them yet, but HPD Commander Hasig says they believe the man is a deputy constable with Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office.

“Out of respect for the family, because we have not been able to contact next of kin yet, we won’t be releasing his name. Again, because we don’t have that positive identification. But we are working to make that contact, and that information will be coming from us relatively soon,” Commander Hasig said.

As of this writing, no additional details have been shared, but an investigation is currently being conducted.

Reporter Re’Chelle Turner reached out to The Harris County Pct. 4 deputy constables office for more information and is awaiting their response.
