Teen charged with capital murder in NW Harris County for what was initially reported as a car crash

An 18-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with capital murder after a man’s body was found on FM 1960 in NW Harris County though it was initially reported as a car crash.

On August 31, Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a crash scene at the 5000 block of FM 1960 W near Veterans Memorial Drive.

Deputies discovered Ronald Burns, 42, lying on the road suffering from gunshot wounds. Burns was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Following an investigation, detectives determined the incident involved a robbery and shooting.

Janiah Edmonds, 18, was identified and charged for her role and arrested on Monday by members of the Violent Crime Apprehension Team (VCAT) arrested Edmonds. At last check, she was booked at the Harris County Jail and faces capital murder charges.
