Soyez took to X to warn those who would makes these threats of the consequences for doing so. The post also says not only is the number more than any month last year, it is more than in the past three years.
“While most of the threats we come across are a hoax, the consequences for those who make these threats are no joke,” he said. “Threatening to commit acts of violence against a school, joke or not, is a crime.
Soyez said the FBI along with other law enforcement agencies investigate every threat they come across.
“If you see a threat on social media, in an email, or a text message, screenshot and immediately tell your school police, administrator, or another adult. Do not report a school threat via social media by tagging a law enforcement agency and please do not repost it, share it, or airdrop it,” he said.
There have been multiple threats against Houston-area schools in just the past two weeks. The most recent incident was in Willis where a middle school student is facing charges after reportedly admitting to making threats on social media against three Willis ISD schools.
