Fort Bend County Judge KP George comments about social media hoax investigation

FORT BEND COUNTY. Texas – Last week, Judge K.P. Geroge was issued a search warrant where he was asked to turn over electronic devices. Records show George is accused of helping fake social media accounts influence an election.

Court documents show George is accused of coordinating the social media hoax with this former Chief of Staff, Taral Patel.

On Monday, Judge George made his first public appearance since the warrant came out. He attended the 2024-2025 budget meeting. Before the meeting, he spoke exclusively with KPRC 2 Reporter Corley Peel. He read a statement approved by his attorney.

“I’ve been fully cooperating with the authorities and I have complied with them and have provided all the requested items. On the advice of my attorney, I neither can comment nor answer and questions about the specifics of this situation. I will continue to perform my duties as the county judge the citizens of Fort Bend County overwhelmingly elected me to do. My focus remains on serving the residents of Fort Bend County to the best of my ability and I have 100% faith in the legal process and I trust that once all the facts are reviewed, my name will be cleared,” George said.

Corley asked him if he believes his constituents should still trust him. George said he cannot comment as he has been advised by his attorney’s to not answer any questions about the ongoing investigation.

The search warrant showed, his former Chief of Staff, Taral Patel is accused of creating the fake social media accounts. The investigation began when detectives say Patel ran for Precinct 3 commissioner in 2023.  Police arrested him in June.

Court records show on those fake accounts, he posted racist attacks against himself and disparaging remarks about his opponent, republican Andy Meyers. Judge George is accused of helping make those fake posts.

Patel had a hearing scheduled Monday afternoon, but it has been reset to October.
