Here’s how Texas’ colleges ranked on the 2025 U.S. News Best Colleges list

The U.S. News Best Colleges list, an annual ranking published by U.S. News & World Report, is often regarded as the most accredited ranking of higher-level educational institutions in the United States.

The list serves as a tool for students weighing their options for college. The list is also used as a selling point for the top-ranked schools in the nation.

The 2025 rankings were released Monday, and students and alumni alike were quick to see where their favorite schools were placed.

Here’s how the list stacked the top 10 colleges in Texas:

  • No. 18: Rice University (Houston, TX)
  • No. 30: University of Texas at Austin (Austin, TX)
  • No. 51: Texas A&M University (College Station, TX)
  • No. 91: Baylor University (Waco, TX)
  • No. 91: Southern Methodist University (Dallas, TX)
  • No. 105: Texas Christian University (Fort Worth, TX)
  • No. 109: University of Texas-Dallas (Richardson, TX)
  • No. 144: University of Houston (Houston, TX)
  • No. 209: University of St. Thomas (Houston, TX)
  • No. 214: Texas Tech University (Lubbock, TX)
