USPS employee in Houston arrested for having fake temporary dealers tag

HOUSTON – A Houston postal worker has been arrested, along with another person, for having fake temporary dealers tag, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Pierre Haynes, 30, was charged with tampering with a government document and Akhirah Hall, 29, with failure to identify fugitive.

Haynes was identified as an employee of USPS.

HCSO says the arrests are apart of a larger investigation with stolen checks and cards.

The United States Postal Service’s Office of Inspector General is investigating the case.

USPS OIG released the following statement:

At this time, the USPS OIG is not releasing any further information regarding this case. As the arrest was made by the Harris County Sherrif’s office, any release of information will be coordinated with their office.

The U.S. Postal Service employs more than 625,000 employees and is the largest civilian federal workforce in the country. This type of alleged behavior within the Postal Service is not tolerated and the overwhelming majority of Postal Service employees, who all serve the public, are honest, hardworking, and trustworthy individuals who would never consider engaging in any type of criminal behavior.
