Authorities are trying to identify a Houston-based bank robber known for his repeated hits wearing flannelled fits.

FBI Houston’s Violent Crime Task Force is reaching out to the public for information on a man they’ve dubbed the “Plaid Pillager” who robbed his fifth bank in Houston earlier this week.

His most recent pillaging took place around 2:10 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20, at the Bank of America located at 5348 Westheimer Rd. in west Houston. The man walked into the bank and handed the teller a note. The message contained threatening language and demanded money.

After taking an undisclosed amount of cash, the man took off and crossed Westheimer on foot. Thankfully, nobody was injured during the crime.

In a press release, FBI Houston provided information on each of the Pillager’s four previous heists:

  • July 22, 2022: Wells Fargo Bank at 11152 S. Gessner Rd.
  • Feb. 3, 2023: Chase Bank at 10411 Westheimer Rd.
  • Feb. 10, 2023: Bank of America at 5348 Westheimer Rd.
  • March 6, 2023: Cadence Bank at 3754 Westheimer Rd.

All of the crimes happened at banks located on or near Westheimer Rd., and he even robbed the same Bank of America location twice. It seems the suspect’s criminal tendencies are similar to his wardrobe: patterned.

The Pillager is described as a balding man in his late-50s. He has a heavy build and is around 6′0″ tall with a white stubbled beard. During the most recent robbery, he wore a blue fishing shirt with blue jeans and sneakers. He covered his face with a black medical mask and a cap with a Houston Texans logo, and he was carrying a camo-designed backpack.

After he left the bank, the man took off his mask and cap and put on sunglasses. He appears to have a tattoo on his right wrist in images, and a witness said he had a black or green tattoo on the side of his head.

Anyone with information on the Pillager is asked to alert Crime Stoppers by calling their tip line at 713-222-TIPS (8477). You can also call the FBI Houston Field Office at 713-693-5000. Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of this suspect.
