Who killed Kenneth Thomas? $5,000 reward offered in fatal hit-and-run

The search continues for the driver who struck and killed Uber driver Kenneth Bertran Thomas in a hit-and-run incident, as authorities turn to the community for answers.

On July 28 at 3:48 a.m., Thomas, an Uber driver, was taking a passenger along the I-10 East Freeway, near the Kress exit.

Thomas stopped his vehicle to see what was wrong with his car after he suspected hitting something on the freeway’s shoulder.

Both Thomas and the passenger briefly exited the vehicle to assess the situation. As Thomas continued inspecting his car, another vehicle—possibly a pick-up truck—struck his vehicle, pinning him underneath.

The driver responsible for the collision fled the scene, leaving few clues behind.

To encourage tips, Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and/or charging of the suspect(s) involved. Tips can be provided anonymously by calling 713-222-TIPS (8477), submitting information online at www.crime-stoppers.org, or through the Crime Stoppers mobile app. Only tips reported directly to Crime Stoppers are eligible for the reward.

Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information to come forward and assist in bringing justice to Thomas and his family.
