Heroic Spring Branch ISD police officer saves baby from choking

SPRING BRANCH, Texas – A newly joined officer to the Spring Branch ISD police department has already put his training to good use and was hailed a hero after saving a choking baby’s life.

During a Spring Branch ISD board meeting on Monday, officials highlighted Officer Juan Pedraza and his heroism with a special award and recognition.

A few weeks ago, committee members said, some Spring Branch ISD parents flagged the officer down, saying their baby boy was in distress. Officer Pedraza leaped into action and saw the baby boy was choking on something.

With his quick action and CPR training, Officer Pedraza was able to get whatever was lodged in the baby’s throat out and save his life.

“We are very proud of Officer Juan Pedraza, who received the IAMSBISD award for saving the life of an infant who was choking,” Spring Branch ISD PD said on social media. “Congratulations, Officer Pedraza!”
