A La Marque man accused of kidnapping a woman in the parking lot of the La Marque Sam’s Club in September is now facing additional charges related to the sexual assault of a 14-year-old neighbor.

Edmond Wayne Porter, 53, was arrested on Sept. 20 on charges of aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery after allegedly abducting a woman at gunpoint in the Sam’s Club parking lot.

Porter allegedly forced the woman into her vehicle and drove her to a League City neighborhood, where she managed to escape and seek help from a nearby resident.

The victim was physically unharmed but visibly shaken by the ordeal. Authorities said there was no indication of any prior relationship between the woman and Porter.

However, it was later discovered that Porter was already under investigation for a separate incident involving a teenage girl.

In April, the father of a 14-year-old girl reported to La Marque police that his daughter had been sexually assaulted by a neighbor. The girl told police that she had been lured to Porter’s house under the pretense of meeting his 17-year-old son. Once there, she was allegedly assaulted by Porter.

Records show that investigators didn’t have enough evidence to charge Porter with sexual assault until he was already in jail on the kidnapping charge.

Investigators wanted to interview Porter first, but he was uncooperative during the interview and refused to answer questions.

It wasn’t until after Porter was arrested on the kidnapping charges that the police were able to interview him again. During this second interview, Porter reportedly became angry and cut off the conversation.

La Marque police are now investigating the kidnapping case as a possible attempted sexual assault and are urging any other potential victims to come forward.
