Authorities offer $10K reward for capture of Giovanni Ornelas in 2021 deadly SE Houston drive-by

The search for Giovanni Ornelas continues as Houston police and Crime Stoppers increase the reward for information leading to his arrest in connection with the deadly drive-by shooting of Albert Castillo Jr. in 2021.

Crime Stoppers and HPD’s Homicide Division held a press conference as they requested the public’s help in locating Ornelas.

The fatal shooting took place on August 8, 2021, in the 5600 block of Newport Street off Gulf Fwy and I-45 South in SE Houston.

According to authorities, officers responded to a call regarding a drive-by shooting and found two men with gunshot wounds.

Albert Castillo Jr. was struck in the back and was pronounced dead at the scene, while a second man was hit in the arm and transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Ornelas is still at large, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
