The family of missing Houston man Albert Figueroa is turning to the community for help as they continue their search to bring the 66-year-old home safely.

Albert was last seen in August 2023 near the Udlewood Apartments on West Bellfort Avenue, where he lived with his elderly mother. His sister, Mamie Williams, is urging the community to help bring him home, as their family struggles to cope with his unexplained disappearance.

“He’s not homeless,” Mamie explained. “But he has medical issues and can be a bit forgetful, especially after an incident where he fell off a ladder. He also experiences seizures on and off, and I’m worried about his condition.”

Despite these challenges, Albert has always managed to find his way back home — until now.

Albert’s sudden disappearance has taken a toll on the entire family, especially their 87-year-old mother, who still holds out hope for her son’s return.

“My mom feels like it’s her fault, but it’s not,” Mamie shared. “She just wants to know where he is. If he’s passed on, we want to know so we can bury him properly. If he’s still alive, we want to know where he’s at so we can bring him home.”

The family believes Albert may have been mistaken for a homeless person and taken by an organization that relocates individuals to other cities.

“Houston is Albert’s home,” Mamie explained. “There’s a group that picks up people who they think are homeless and takes them to San Antonio. They say they’re helping, but what if he didn’t want to go? He didn’t have his ID or medication—he might not have been able to tell them who he was.”

Mamie described her brother as a gentle soul who has never been a threat to anyone.

“He’s a good, nice guy,” she said. “Even if he only had two or three dollars in his pocket, he would give it to someone else. I just don’t think he was in his right mind when he disappeared.”

The last confirmed sighting of Albert was by a friend who saw him on a street corner in Houston. Since then, the family has been tirelessly searching, reaching out to local shelters, hospitals, and even detective agencies for any sign of him.

“We’ve been working with a detective with HPD, but there hasn’t been much progress,” Mamie said. “I’ve sent him every piece of information I could think of, told him who to talk to, but it just feels like Albert’s become another number. We’ve even tried hiring private detectives, but we’re running out of options.”

Mamie and her family worry about Albert’s safety, especially since he doesn’t have any ID, phone, or access to his medications.

“It’s so hard not knowing where he is or if he’s okay,” she said. “My mom is devastated. We’ve already lost one brother, and now my little brother is missing too.”

The family is pleading with anyone who might know something to come forward, no matter how small the detail.

“Please let us know where he’s at so we can bring him home,” Mamie urged. “He’s a gentle soul, and we miss him so much.”
