ER nurse beat up in Houston Whataburger drive-thru after bumping SUV in front of her

‘I didn’t know that she would attack me for it’

HOUSTON – An emergency room nurse was violently beaten in the drive-thru of a Houston Whataburger over the weekend.

The nurse, who did not want to be identified out of fear for their life, says she bumped the SUV in front of her while waiting in the drive-thru line.

This happened on Sunday night around 9:30 p.m. at the Whataburger along Old Spanish Trail in Houston’s South Side.

The nurse spoke with KPRC 2′s Gage Goulding on Tuesday, sharing that she offered to pull aside and call the police to file a report.

“I had rolled down my window to ask,” the victim said. “And I apologize. I said, ‘I’m sorry. Did I hit your car?’ I really wasn’t sure. And immediately she got out and started screaming. [She] told me to move my car back.”

However, the woman in the other vehicle was enraged, not only going on a profanity-filled rant, but also opening the victim’s car door, reaching inside and punching the victim repeatedly.

“She was visibly upset,” the victim told KPRC 2. “I knew that, but I didn’t think she was going to come over and, you know, I didn’t know that she would attack me for it.”

The victim shares that the attacker came to her car unleashing punches not once, but twice. Only the second round was caught on camera by another person in the drive-thru.

Victim: “I couldn’t really see. I was a little disoriented. She had hit my head, you know, on the side of my head and stuff.”

Gage Goulding: “What prompted her to come back again?”

Victim: “I’m not sure. I mean, I apologized. I apologized multiple times.”

Gage Goulding: “We’re concealing your identity for this interview because you’re scared of what she could do to you?”

Victim: “That Whataburger is really close to my house. I would not be surprised if she lived in the same area as me, maybe a few streets down.”

Gage Goulding: “Do you think she should be punished for what she did to you?”

Victim: “I just want her to realize that I’m somebody’s daughter just like she is.”

Gage Goulding: “I could tell she hurt you. Not only physically, but also emotionally.”

Victim: “Yeah. The scars will go away. You know, The bruises will heal. The swelling will go down. But I just felt so dehumanized.”

The nurse is left with a bruised face, busted lip and broken blood vessels in her eye.

Houston Police says they are investigating and need tips to track down who this woman is.

If you know anything that might help Houston Police solve this crime, you’re asked to call Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS (8477) or submit an anonymous online tip.
