The Texas Department of Public Safety is extending its service hours this month by offering Saturday appointments at select driver’s license offices across the state.
The initiative aims to accommodate more customers needing license renewals or replacements and will run every Saturday through the end of October.

Participating DPS offices in various regions of Texas will operate for half days on Oct. 5, 12, 19, and 26.
The Saturday appointments will be available by scheduling only, and while most slots are designated for renewal or replacement services, some offices may also offer appointments for new Texas resident driver’s license and ID card services depending on availability.
Here’s a list of Houston-area DPS offices offering Saturday appointments in October:
- Houston Gessner: 8 a.m.-12 p.m. — Oct. 12
- Houston North: 8 a.m.-12 p.m.— Oct. 26
- Spring: 8 a.m.-12 p.m.— Oct. 12
- Humble: 8 a.m.-12 p.m. — Oct. 26
- Conroe: 8 a.m.-12 p.m. — Oct. 12
- Houston East: 8 a.m.-12 p.m. — Oct. 12
- Baytown: 8 a.m.-12 p.m. — Oct. 26
- Houston Southeast: 8 a.m.-12 p.m. — Oct. 12
- Rosenberg: 8 a.m.-12 p.m.— Oct. 26
While this initiative helps meet customer needs, DPS emphasized the importance of canceling appointments if you cannot attend. In September, the no-show rate for Saturday appointments was 30%, meaning nearly one in three customers who booked failed to show up or cancel.
