Elementary school student struck by Barbers Hill ISD school bus

HOUSTON – An elementary school student is recovering at a Houston hospital after being struck by a Barber Bill Independent School District bus Thursday morning, according to the district.

The crash happened at 7:40 a.m., just before school, on Sapphire Lagoon Street in the Joseph’s Cove subdivision.

Officials said the Elementary School South student was taken by EMS to a local hospital for medical treatment. The extent of injuries were being assessed but they are non-life threatening.

The bus driver and two passengers on the bus at the time of the crash were not injured.

The details surrounding the crash or the cause of the accident is being investigated. Barber Hill ISD is working with local authorities to help assist in the investigation.

This is the second bus incident reported in the Houston area Thursday that has resulted in injuries.
