HOUSTON – Just days before Houstonians will be able to share their honest thoughts about CenterPoint Energy with the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUC), the company’s top man has agreed to interview exclusively with KPRC 2′s Gage Goulding.

CenterPoint Energy CEO Jason Wells is scheduled to speak with KPRC 2 in the first interview since Houston’s double whammy of natural disasters: a derecho in May and Hurricane Beryl in July.

Each of the two disasters crippled the Houston electric grid, resulting in millions of people being without power for days on end.
Following both the derecho and Hurricane Beryl, KPRC 2′s Gage Goulding spoke with CenterPoint Energy Executive Vice President of Regulatory Services and Government Affairs Jason Ryan.
This is the first time the company’s CEO is sitting down for an interview in front of a television camera.

The interview takes place two days before a Public Utilities Commission hearing, during which Houstonians can speak or submit virtual comments on the utility provider responsible for the transmission and distribution of Houston’s electric supply.
The PUC will hold a public meeting this Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Harris County Department of Education, located at 6300 Irvington Boulevard, Houston, TX.
CenterPoint Energy has since completed the first phase of its “resiliency plan.”
Just this week the company announced the second phase of its plan.

On Wednesday, CenterPoint touted the use of artificial intelligence to help find vegetation that needs to be trimmed away from power lines.
