Texas authorities issued a Blue Alert early Friday for 33-year-old Seth Altman, who is wanted in connection with the shooting of the Memphis Police Chief in Hall County, Texas
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the incident happened on Oct, 3, around 11 p.m., when Chief Rex Plant and another officer went to a residence in Memphis to arrest Altman on burglary charges. Altman allegedly shot Chief Plant multiple times and fled the scene on foot. Chief Plant was airlifted to a hospital in Amarillo, but his current condition has not been disclosed.

Altman, described as a standing 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 220 pounds, with blue eyes and red hair, was last seen around 11 p.m. Thursday on South 4th Street in Memphis, a small city in Hall County, approximately 80 miles southeast of Amarillo. He was reportedly wearing a blue T-shirt and blue jeans at the time of the incident.
Authorities have labeled Altman as “armed and dangerous” and are urging the public not to approach him. Instead, anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately.
A warrant for Altman’s arrest has been issued for Attempted Capital Murder of a Peace Officer. In addition, Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $10,000 reward for information leading to his capture.

Blue Alerts are activated when a suspect is wanted for causing serious injury or death to a law enforcement officer, and there is an ongoing threat to the public.
