The legal troubles of a Houston teenager are growing after he allegedly tried to take a deputy’s gun and was found with drugs while in jail—just weeks after being charged for a school stabbing.
Pablo Castaneda, 17, is currently being held in the Harris County Jail on charges of attempting to disarm a peace officer and possessing a prohibited substance in a correctional facility, alongside a previous aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge stemming from a school stabbing incident.

Court documents reveal that on Sept. 28 Castaneda was involved in a confrontation with a court bailiff while in the holdover of a Harris County courtroom. During the altercation, he allegedly tried to remove the deputy’s firearm from its holster, resulting in the charge of attempt to take a weapon from a peace officer. His bond for this offense is currently set at $50,000.
Adding to his legal troubles, Castaneda has also been charged with possession of a prohibited substance in a correctional facility. This charge stems from an incident on Oct. 2 when he was found to be in possession of marijuana while in custody at the Harris County Jail. His bond for this charge has also been set at $50,000.
These charges follow a previous arrest on Sept. 20, when Castaneda was taken into custody for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after a violent altercation at a local high school. Castaneda was involved in a fight with another student, during which he stabbed the student with a pocket knife.
Witnesses and court documents indicate that Castaneda showed no remorse for his actions, reportedly telling officers that he “stabbed that [expletive] and would do it again.”
The next court appearance for Castaneda is scheduled for Nov. 20.
