On Wednesday, Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg unveiled a new criminal data dashboard that will provide new information for nearly 1 million criminal cases in the county.
The DA’s office and the University of Houston Data Science Institute collaborated to create the database. The software will aggregate Harris County’s criminal data into one dashboard that is open to the public.
Ogg said the software will help ensure transparency within the county’s justice system.
“Our office—for the last seven and a half, almost eight years—has had a simple mission, and that mission is that we are dedicated to making our community safer through evidence-based prosecution and equal justice for all. This means guaranteeing a fair process for the victim, the accused and the community in every case,” Ogg said.
Ogg was joined by Assistant DA Chris Handley and Claudia Neuhauser, the vice chancellor of research at UH.
The dashboard is active, and it can be found here.
