BACKGROUND: 3 killed, 6 others injured at block party in NE Houston
According to HPD, the shooting unfolded when an SUV approached the large gathering and multiple suspects opened fire on the crowd. Faultry and Stuard were killed at the scene, while Jackson died from his injuries later at a local hospital.
The chaos left eight others injured: seven men ranging in age from 22 to 49 and a 43-year-old woman.
Investigators say multiple people fled the scene, complicating their efforts to identify additional suspects involved.
Court documents related to the suspects revealed how investigators were able to identify them.
Through footage from various surveillance cameras in the area of the shooting, officials were able to read the license plate of the vehicle involved, and it was traced back to a car rental service. When investigators contacted the rental company, an employee informed them that the vehicle in question was returned with bullet holes and additional damage two days after the shooting.
Investigators also found security footage from an apartment complex that showed the SUV leaving the premises less than an hour before the shooting. All three suspects were seen at the apartment earlier that night.
Officials also observed Reynolds’ Instagram account, which contained multiple images of all three suspects posing with Glock handguns equipped with switches.
During a press conference on Wednesday, HPD announced they are still looking for a motive in the shooting and are asking for people to come forward with more information.
