In the wake of Hurricane Helene, OnPoint Rescue has been actively delivering supplies to hard-hit areas, starting with Wrens, Georgia.

The Splendora area-based nonprofit is now extending its efforts to Greeneville, Kingsport, and Chuckey, Tennessee. Terri Hackl with OnPoint Rescue said the devastation near Greeneville is particularly severe and the local communities are struggling to recover.

A local church in Greeneville has stepped up to lead relief efforts, setting up a large warehouse filled with supplies for distribution.

However, as overnight temperatures dip into the 30s in many spots, the demand for kerosene and kerosene heaters has grown urgent, with many residents forced to sleep outside without adequate shelter.

OnPoint Rescue has teamed up with CrowdSource Rescue to streamline aid delivery. In addition to their efforts in Appalachia, Hackl said CrowdSource Rescue has teams stationed in Florida, ready to assist in the aftermath of Hurricane Milton.

OnPoint Rescue is accepting donations through its Facebook page to help cover the costs of kerosene and kerosene heaters, providing essential warmth for those without shelter. They’ll be collecting critical supplies like tents and sleeping bags this Saturday, October 12th at the Peach Creek Baptist Church at 25425 FM 1485 in New Caney from 8am-12pm.
