HOUSTON – Houston-based film director Juan Garza has been making waves with his latest film, “LA RESERVA”, a powerful new release that’s gaining attention in the film industry. KPRC 2 photojournalist Oscar Chavez sat down with Juan to discuss the film and the growing influence of Latinos in Hollywood.
Juan highlighted the significance of not only Latino stories but also the importance of showcasing their music and culture in major Hollywood productions. “LA RESERVA” is a groundbreaking project, as it’s one of the first Latin-produced films shot entirely in Houston, featuring local talent. Its theatrical release spanned five major cities across the U.S., and it’s now available on streaming platforms.
Though Juan didn’t reveal any upcoming projects, he emphasized Houston’s potential as a beautiful backdrop for filmmaking. As a member of the The Independent Filmmakers Guild of America, he’s committed to continuing his work in the city, promoting the local film scene and showcasing Houston’s unique charm to the world.
