HOUSTON – Investigators are looking into what led up to a deadly shootout between two groups of people in north Houston late Sunday night.

Police said they were called to the 600 block of Mayford St. off Hardy Toll Rd. a little after 10:15 p.m. When they arrived, when Houston PD Lt. Horelica said an unidentified man between the ages of 18 and 20 was found shot to death.
It’s unclear what caused the shootout, but police said two groups were involved, one of them left but returned and fired several more shots at the other. Officials were given a description of a car driven by one of the shooters that matched what they heard a few blocks away.

When police tried pulling over that vehicle though, the driver didn’t stop, so a brief chase began that went on for another few blocks before crashing out. Two people were arrested but they have not been identified, as of this writing.
Officials say they believe the two groups know each other but their relationship was not disclosed.
