Houston man fires at police during chase, then calls 911 and says he was kidnapped

HOUSTON – A man who was involved in a police chase shot at officers to escape and then called 911, which led to his arrest.

Keithan Carl Randall, 34, is charged with aggravated assault against a public servant and felony evading arrest.

Harris County Precinct 5 Constable’s deputies saw a car reversing in a moving traffic lane near Westheimer Road on Sunday morning.

Houston Police Department reported that the Precinct 5 Constable’s deputies attempted to pull over the car; they did not stop, and a vehicle pursuit was underway.

An additional Precinct 5 patrol car joined the chase. The suspect shot toward the car and hit the front left headlight, and the deputies lost sight of the suspect.

The suspect then called 911 and claimed he had been kidnapped and was forced to escape the officers.

HPD Westside Patrol Division Officers responded to the call and arrested Randall.

No injuries were reported. Randall was booked into the Harris County Jail.
