Fire and smoke seen for miles after propane center explosion in Brookshire

First responders are at the scene of an explosion at a propane distribution center in Brookshire.

The explosion and fire were first reported around 1:15 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at the RapidXchange propane center at 30313 FM 529 in Brookshire, according to the Waller County Sheriff’s Office.

Flames and black smoke could be seen for miles from Sky2.

One man was injured and drove himself to the hospital. He’s in stable condition.

FM 2855 and FM 529 are closed while first responders work to get the fire under control. At 3 p.m. the fire was contained at the back of a building, according to Waller County’s Fire Marshal.

Randell Adams captured the immediate aftermath of the explosion with a drone.

Our Sky2 Chopper captured footage of the smoke and firefighters at the scene following the explosion.

Waller County currently has a burn ban in effect and is part of Governor Greg Abbott’s disaster declaration issued Monday and related to “increasing wildfire danger and ongoing wildfire activity throughout the state.”

According to the Waller County Fire Marshal’s Office, no deaths have been reported. They also said that there are no air quality issues at this time.
