Manhunt underway for suspect who shot at DPS troopers in northeast Houston

NORTHEAST HOUSTON – Authorities are searching for a suspect who fled a traffic stop and fired at officers during a foot chase in northeast Houston on Tuesday.

The incident began around 9 p.m. when Texas Department of Public Safety officers attempted a traffic stop near Colton St. and Kelburn Dr. The suspect fled the vehicle on foot, leading officers to the 7200 block of Lakewood Dr.

During the chase, the suspect allegedly fired shots at DPS officers on Lakewood Dr. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

DPS officers, along with support from the DPS air unit, Houston Police Department air unit, and HPD K9, conducted an extensive search of the area. However, the suspect remains at large.

Details are limited at this time, and no description of the suspect has been released.
