Harris County: What to expect during early voting for the Nov. 5 election

Early voting starts Monday, October 21

HOUSTON – The Harris County Clerk’s Office held a news conference Thursday morning to provide key information about early voting for the upcoming Nov. 5 General and Special Elections.

Here’s everything you need to know to prepare:

Early Voting Period

  • Starts: Monday, Oct. 21
  • Ends: Friday, Nov. 1
  • Times: Most days from 7 a.m.- 7 p.m.; Sunday, Oct. 27, from 12 p.m. - 7 p.m.,; Oct. 28–30, from 7 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Oct. 31 extended hours from 7 a.m. - 9 p.m.

Voting Locations

  • A total of 88 voting centers will be open during early voting.
  • On Election Day, voters are no longer required to vote at their precinct. You can vote at any center countywide.

Registered Voters

  • 2.68 million registered voters are eligible to vote in Harris County.
  • Last election, 76% of voters cast their ballots early.

Voting Accessibility and Education

  • Harris County is working to ensure voters are informed and able to vote efficiently.

  • A new Harris County Elections Headquarters is the base of operations, including a call center for voter inquiries.

Election Staffing

  • Harris County is working around the clock to recruit and train poll workers, aiming for 700 election judges.
