Berg, 45, is accused of choking a 14-year-old student by placing his arm around her neck and slamming her to the ground during a hallway confrontation.
According to court documents, surveillance footage and witness statements, Berg allegedly grabbed the student by her backpack, pushed her into a wall, and then choked her by placing his arm around her neck before tackling her to the ground.
The incident reportedly happened following a verbal altercation between the student and her peers. Witnesses, including school police officers, stated that Berg grabbed the student by her backpack, pushed her against a wall, and used his body weight to pin her to the ground.
The student was taken to Texas Children’s Hospital, where she was treated for injuries including a contusion to the forehead, a strained shoulder, and bruising to her knee. The student’s mother informed authorities that her daughter complained of pain and lightheadedness following the incident.
Berg was interviewed by law enforcement where he acknowledged attempting to intervene in the altercation but denied using excessive force, claiming the student ran into a structural column during the incident.
He is currently facing charges of injury to a child, and the investigation remains ongoing.
