DEER PARK, Texas – Records from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Science have identified the two workers who died during a deadly gas release at the Deer Park PEMEX facility last week.

The records reveal Jose Wilfredo Perez and Jason Edward Scott died during the hydrogen sulfide release at the facility on Oct. 10.

Scott’s family has filed a lawsuit against PEMEX. Several other workers injured in the gas release have also filed a lawsuit against the company.

The gas release killed two workers and injured dozens more, prompting shelter-in-place orders for the nearby cities of Deer Park and Pasadena.

The lawsuit, filed on behalf of Scott’s family, alleges that he “suffered fatal injuries and endured pain and suffering as he succumbed to the toxic gas” and claims that his “wife, children, and parents have been irreparably deprived of their beloved family member as a result of Defendants’ conduct.”
