HOUSTON – A firefighter was injured when a balcony collapsed while he was responding to an fire at an apartment Monday.
The fire happened at 13702 Richmond Avenue, in the western part of Houston.

The Houston Fire Department said the call came in at 1:55 p.m. and was upgraded to a 2-alarm fire at 2:12 p.m.
The department said a firefighter called a “mayday” over the radio requesting more help.
The department said the firefighter was injured when the balcony collapsed while he was searching the property. He was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
