Houston police said witnesses in the area said they heard two people arguing and then multiple gunshots. Kyle Coolack was initially identified as a person of interest in this incident and the murder charge was filed on July 15, 2022.

After two years on the run, Coolack was found in Calhoun County, Iowa.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office said they received a call Saturday from a man who said he had just kicked another man out of his home. The man had been staying at the home recently. Authorities were told in a conversation the man, identified as Coolack, admitted to being on the run for killing his own brother which led to the resident kicking Coolack out of the house.

A Calhoun County deputy located Coolack outside of the town of Pomeroy walking south along a highway. He was detained and questioned.

After initially giving deputies a false name, Coolack revealed his real name to deputies. Checking records, deputies were able to find the outstanding murder warrant Coolack was wanted for.

Coolack was arrested and taken to the Carroll County Jail to await extradition back to Houston.
