During a news conference, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez was joined by Houston PD Chief Noe Diaz, to give preliminary details.
The sheriff began by saying it started around 6 a.m. when deputies and police as well as officers with the U.S. Marshals Violent Offenders Task Force were called to a home on Luthe Rd. near Aldine Mail Route off Hardy Toll Rd.

Sheriff Gonzalez said officers were conducting a domestic violence warrant for an unidentified man accused of stabbing a woman in unincorporated Harris County (and possibly other charges).
There were three people in the home (including the wanted man) and a pregnant woman when officers arrived at the scene and made their presence known telling the man to give himself up. The pregnant woman at the scene, Sheriff Gonzalez confirmed, is unrelated to the “stabbing” case the shooter was accused of.

Shortly afterward, Sheriff Gonzalez said an unidentified man pulled out a shotgun and told officers something along the lines of “he was not going to go out this way.” Gunfire was exchanged and the shooter was hit by an officer and died from his injuries.
The shooter has only been described as a man, possibly 26. It’s unclear if he was the one officers were looking for when they were conducting the warrant.
No officers were injured. Additionally, the officer involved in the shooting has only been described as a 15-year veteran with the Houston Police Department.
