HOUSTON – Jessica Alba opened the speeches at the Kamala Harris rally with a big, “Hello, Houston,” in a purple pantsuit, rallying the crowd.
“I don’t know if you know this about me, but I spent much of my childhood in Del Rio, Texas,” the actress and entrepreneur said. “But it was here in Texas that I learned the importance of looking out for your neighbors, lending a hand without hesitation and treating people the way that you would want to be treated.”

Alba said those values shaped who she is today and said she feels Kamala Harris embodies those values.
Willie Nelson took the stage with his signature forehead bandana and braids, sang first “Mamas, don’t let your babies grow up to be cowboys.”
The 91-year-old then strummed his way into “I can’t wait to get on the road again.” He didn’t take the podium to say anything, but boy, did the crowd love the Texas and music icon.
The next celebrity to take the podium was Tina Knowles, Beyoncé's mother. In her speech, Knowles emphasized the importance of this election for the rights of women across America.
“We cannot go backwards, guys,” Knowles said. “Too many people have died for us to have our freedom... We’ve got to show up and do our part. That’s why I am here. I’m so honored to be here in support of Kamala Harris.”
Tina then introduced Beyoncé and fellow Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland, and the two made their long-awaited appearance to the stage.
Rowland spoke first, further discussing the implications of the election on reproductive rights for women.
After Rowland had finished, Beyoncé spoke. She expressed the importance of voting for Houstonians, shouting out several areas of the city to thunderous applause before introducing Vice President Harris.
“I’m not here as a celebrity,” Beyoncé said. “I’m not here as a politician. I’m here as a mother—a mother who cares deeply about the world my children, and all of our children, live in. A world where we have the freedom to control our bodies.”
