Officers rescue teen from sex trafficking; woman charged with promotion of prostitution

Houston, TX – A teen is recovering this afternoon after investigators say she was trafficked by a young woman.

22-year-old Kaylyn Redding is charged with promotion of prostitution (juvenile).

Redding appeared in court on Saturday, where a judge reviewed probable cause and set her bond at $50,000.

In a post on X, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez says they were able to locate and rescue the teen from being trafficked.

In probable cause court, the teen claimed she was being forced to have sex with men for money.

“Ms. Redding is alleged to be the complainant’s, pimp’s girlfriend who is also allegedly in sex ads online with a complainant’s face and a phone number that belong the defendant, Ms. Redding,” the judge said.

In probable cause court, the judge heard details in the case. Court documents reveal Redding was also arrested for Prostitution in June.

“Officers also found three additional sex ads with both the 16-year-old complainant and the defendant with their faces in it. Ms. Redding phone number is the list and contact and Ms. Redding did not claim that she was being trafficked herself,” said the judge.

The judge set the bond at $50,000.

The judge added, “Given the facts and the nature of this offense, the nature of this offense requires a high bond to ensure the safety of this complaining witness, as well as the community.”

The judge has ordered Redding to meet specific bond conditions, including surrendering her passport, avoiding drugs and alcohol, not possessing weapons, and she cannot have any contact with the victim or anyone under 17 years old. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Monday.
