I-45 North freeway shut down for hours after person hit, killed by car

HOUSTON – Drivers who usually head northbound on I-45 on Monday morning had to find a different commute after a person was hit and killed by a car.

Details are limited, but Houston police confirmed it happened just before 5 a.m. on I-45 N and West Rd., where an unidentified person was hit by a car and died from their injuries.

Police have not disclosed what led up to the crash, but the highway was completely shut down. It reopened shortly after 8 a.m. but police are continuing to look into what happened as part of their ongoing investigation.
