Is your massage therapist legit? There’s an easy way to find out

(Andrey Popov)

HOUSTON – When you go to a massage therapist, a doctor or a dentist, you probably don’t give a second thought as to whether they are qualified to do the job you are paying them to do, especially if they are working at an establishment with a good reputation.

However, more and more times, people are running into problems with medical providers not being legitimate or worse, using their so-called title and occupation to commit crimes against individuals.

One of the professions where this has happened is with massage therapists. Over the years, there have been multiple stories in the Houston area alone of people working as massage therapists using their occupations to violate people.

While it won’t rule out something like this happening, one thing people can do to increase the odds of having an enjoyable and safe massage session is to make sure the person giving you the massage is properly licensed and certified.

There is a very simple way to check if the person providing you with the massage is certified in the State of Texas.

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation has a website where you can search if someone has a license or not.

The search function isn’t just limited to massage therapists, but all sorts of other licenses as well, from cosmetologists to electricians.

Click here to visit the license search website.
