HOUSTON – Authorities are piecing together what led up to a teenager’s death Sunday night in northwest Harris County after witnesses reported hearing the gunfire but only seeing a car speeding away from the scene.

It happened around 9:30 p.m. when deputies were called to Evolve Champions Apartments on T.C. Jester Boulevard for a shooting in progress.

When they arrived, investigators said they found an unidentified 17-year-old boy, dead, from several gunshot wounds. Some witnesses outside told officers they heard the shots being fired but weren’t around to see what happened.

They did, however, see a car fleeing from the scene and later reported finding the teenager before calling 911.

At this time, there’s no motive or information on the shooters, but deputies are looking into what happened as part of their investigation.
