Last month, Garcia became the first Hispanic member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s Executive Committee.
The move is the latest in a string of recent leadership changes with the HCHSA. In October, Janis Burke was let go after serving for 18 years as the organization’s CEO.
The move comes during an important stretch for the HCHSA, as the organization recently approved stadium renovations for both the Astros’ Minute Maid Park and the Rockets’ Toyota Center. Houston was also selected to host matches in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
