During the incident, the sheriff’s office says the driver of the van pointed a gun at the driver of the truck. The driver of the pickup truck then fired multiple rounds at the driver of the van, grazing his ear and striking the window of a nearby business.

Authorities say the driver of the van fled the scene on foot, but later returned when law enforcement arrived.

“Both individuals involved cooperated during the investigation, and neither person wished to pursue charges. However, conflicting statements regarding the sequence of events and self-defense claims necessitate further investigation. The investigation remains ongoing,” the sheriff’s office said.

Once the investigation is completed, authorities say the case will be presented to a grand jury.

The names of the people involved are being withheld pending the outcome of the investigation.
