Theft suspects arrested after Sugar Land police chase reportedly stole $5K in merchandise from glasses store

SUGAR LAND, Texas – Three suspects are in custody after reportedly stealing approximately $5,000 in merchandise from a sunglasses store in Sugar Land and leading police on a chase.

The Sugar Land Police Department said the theft happened at the Sunglass Hut at First Colony Mall.

Officers were called at 4:15 p.m. and given a vehicle description. They were able to find the vehicle and pulled it over.

After one of the suspects was detained, one of the two passengers remaining in the vehicle jumped in the driver’s seat and sped away.

Officers lost track of the vehicle for a short time, but found it abandoned in the middle of Highway 6 at Austin Parkway.

After setting up a perimeter, several witnesses were able to give information to officers that helped them find the two suspects.

Officers recovered the stolen merchandise and are also investigating other stolen items.

The suspects will have charges of felony theft and evading arrest.
