Houston Police Department officers located a man with gunshot wounds and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was then pronounced dead.

KPRC 2 obtained surveillance footage of the shooting, but we have chosen not to release it at this time, per the request of HPD because the family of the victim has not yet been notified.

The security footage shows the shooter—wearing a black shirt and khaki pants—walking on a sidewalk near the complex, before encountering a man in a blue hat and quickly retreating. The two appear to be arguing, and the man in the blue hat is aiming to throw an unknown object at the shooter.

Then, the shooter pulls a pistol from his pants and points it at the man in the blue hat. Undeterred by the presence of the gun, the man continues to engage and is shot several times. Clearly wounded, he retreats before finally throwing the object he was holding.

The shooter remained at the scene and called 911. He surrendered to HPD officials at a nearby location and has been taken in for further questioning. Authorities also took possession of the gun.

No charges have been filed at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
