Armed bystander fires gun at suspect during deputy pursuit

Footage from the scene of the arrest (Mark Hermna/Facebook)

A chaotic law enforcement pursuit in the Spring area led an armed pedestrian to take matters into their own hands.

The situation started when a deputy with Harris County Pct 4 Constable Mark Herman’s Office attempted to perform a routine traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1098 block of E. Louetta Rd. The driver refused to pull over, and a chase ensued.

During the chase, the suspect crashed into another vehicle and took off on foot. While he was running, an armed witness pulled out a gun and began shooting at the suspect. It’s unclear whether or not the suspect was hit by the vigilante’s gunfire, but they managed to steal an unoccupied tow truck and flee as police continued the pursuit.

Thankfully, the tow truck was stopped by deputies at the intersection of Grand Pkwy. and Rayford Rd., and the suspect was safely apprehended and taken into custody.

Constable Herman reported the incident on Facebook.
