HOUSTON – A man was killed after police said he crashed into the back of an Amazon Prime 18-wheeler in Houston’s south side.
It happened on Highway 288 between Almeda Genoa and Beltway 8 at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

Witnesses said the driver of the Corvette was driving at a high rate of speed before he hit the Amazon Prime 18-wheeler and a median and the car caught fire.
The driver died on the scene and his identity has not been released.
The woman driving the 18-wheeler suffered neck and back pain but is expected to recover.
“We have massive amounts of skid marks that it(Corvette) was really cruising down the freeway, so fast that when it came upon the 18-wheeler, it was not able to get around it or stop,” said Lt. Willkens with the Houston Police Department.
