Neighbor coming home from work finds woman’s body in middle of street

HOUSTON – Authorities are looking into what led up to a woman’s death Sunday night after a neighbor found her body in the middle of a north Houston street.

Police said they were called around 9:30 p.m. for a “person down” in McClelland Street and Chase Street off Hardly Toll Road and E Crosstimbers. When they arrived, investigators said the woman, identified only as in her mid-50s, had been shot to death.

It’s unclear how it happened, but police said a neighbor coming home from work found the woman lying in the middle of the roadway.

For now, officials said that’s the only information they have. However, they are combing the area for surveillance videos or witnesses and asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers Houston at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
